program has provided technical and grant support to over 2000 customers over the duration of the program. The estimates of projected energy savings from ESAs conducted under the proposed program, including industry baselines, assumptions, references and calculations for the energy savings estimates will be developed from the standard assessment tools provided by the USDOE ITP. These estimates, along with any actual savings through implemented recommendations, will be provided to the USDOE to support the acquisition of the 2.5 percent energy reduction goal. Wisconsin’s 12,000 industrial companies, range in size from a few employees to many with over 250 employees. Wisconsin’s industry base is very diverse in terms of facility size and industry type. The largest industries include wood products – over 1500 companies; food processing – over 800 companies; printing – over 1400 companies; chemicals – over 1400 companies (many plastics); and metalcasting – over 200 companies. Much of Wisconsin’s industry has located here to be close to the resources, such as wood, dairy, livestock, cranberries, and vegetables which are found in abundance. A sound transportation infrastructure and energy utility base also provides support for manufacturing in the state. Program Objectives In response to this Request for Proposals, OEI will, agency of SAIC: • Provide a one-stop-shop, statewide program that encompasses promotion, recruitment, enrollment, training, ESA implementation, progress tracking, and project implementation that will increase the number of ESAs completed in Wisconsin by 45, over three years, targeting Wisconsin’s large industry clusters and offering the full array of technology assessments and Best Practices developed by the USDOE. • Contribute to achieving EPAct goals for reducing industrial energy intensity by 2.5 percent per year for the next ten years and reducing the industrial carbon footprint in Wisconsin through the implementation of assessment recommendations and simultaneously increasing Focus Industrial program energy savings. • Increase the energy Qualified Specialist capacity within Wisconsin, including both customers and market providers, through an organized, localized mentoring process. • Provide at least three emerging technology demonstrations at industrial facilities in Wisconsin. • Identify, vet and assist in the commercialization of three new technologies for commercialization • Identify and support American National Standards Institute (ANSI) pilots for at least four Wisconsin facilities. Project Description and Implementation Plan Save Energy Now Energy Savings Assessments - Project Objectives Under the Wisconsin Save Energy Now Assessment Program (WisconSEN), the program goal is to complete forty-five (45) ESAs at a rate of 15 per year. Local energy specialists who have obtained the Qualified Specialist level of training will also be encouraged to conduct ESAs and to qualify and become USDOE-certified Energy Experts.
