Experimental Procedure 11 The flow ratio was controled to some degree by the Foxboro. automatic controler designed f o r that purpose. In theory,aratio could be set and then, while the flow rate changed, the correct ratio would be maintained. How- ever, since the cdntj2o%%btreceWed uncorrected flow rate signals straight from the square root extractor, the set point had to constantly be changed. A calculator program was written to correlate the Autodata readings for water and steam flow to produce the desired ratio (Figure 5). With these four parameters controled, data scans were taken of steam, water, s t e a m calorimeter and exhaust temp- eratures as well aswater and steam flow rates, torque and speed. A great deal of care was taken in verifying the accuracy of the points taken. For flow rate measures, large volumes of fluid were measured Over long periods of time to be certain that transient effects in the system were insignificant. For both steam and wateqbetween 300 and 400 pounds of fluid were rough the orifice meters into,weigh tanks for curwe. Date points were a1 runs.
