The overall cost of implementing the system was also calculated. This installation cost includes both the price of each piece of equipment and the associated labor costs for each component. These values were estimated using an up to date cost estimating handbook along with additional resources when required. This estimation leads to a total implementation cost of just over $323,000. The implementation costs can then be compared to the annual estimated energy savings to predict a simple payback period. This payback period is found to be 2.7 years and is found by dividing the found implementation cost by the annual energy savings. This system design shows that the potential for waste heat recovery savings can be seen no matter the size of the facility.
