El grado de cumplimiento en esta área ha sido de casi el 50% frente a los objetivos previstos al 2010. Figura 4.7.4. Evolución de la potencia hidroeléctrica instalada menor de 50 MW en el marco del PER 2005-2010 Fuente: elaboración propia A finales de 2010, la potencia acumulada total en España en el área hidroeléctrica de potencia inferior a 50 MW fue de 5.010 MW, distribuida en 1.915 MW para el grupo de centrales menores de 10 MW y 3.095 MW para el área hidráulica de potencia entre 10 y 50 MW. Cataluña, Galicia y Castilla y León son las comunidades autónomas que cuentan con la mayor potencia instalada en el sector hidroeléctrico de potencia inferior a 50 MW, por ser los territorios que cuentan con mayores recursos hidroeléctricos dentro de España. 4.7.2 PERSPECTIVAS DE EVALUACIÓN TECNOLÓGICA Los avances tecnológicos en el equipamiento de una central hidroeléctrica, por tratarse de una tecnología madura y consolidada, van dirigidos a obtener la máxima eficiencia, mejora de rendimientos y reducción de costes, sin olvidar la protección medioambiental en cuanto a evitar cualquier tipo de fugas de aceite o grasas al medio acuático.
