Datos provisionales En general, la crisis ha provocado un freno en la producción ligada a todas las vertientes de la actividad de este sector, y de manera muy especial, en la de las ramas vinculadas a la industria de la construcción, como los minerales no metálicos y la siderurgia, además de en otras como la química, quienes conjuntamente representan más del 50% de toda la demanda energética de este sector. Por otra parte, estos sub-sectores se caracterizan por una elevada demanda de productos petrolíferos y de gas natural, equivalente a dos tercios de la demanda global de estas fuentes energéticas por parte de la industria. El impacto de la crisis, sobre todo en los citados sub-sectores de la industria, se ha traducido en una importante disminución del consumo del petróleo y de gas, lo que explica, si no todo, gran parte del retroceso registrado en 2009 en la demanda global de estos productos energéticos. Otro sector crítico, con repercusión en la demanda energética nacional, es el transporte, dada su alta dependencia de recursos fósiles, así como la complejidad asociada a su naturaleza atomizada y vinculación a otros sectores de actividad económica, como la industria, comercio y turismo, todo ello sin olvidar su elevado impacto medioambiental. Este sector, al igual que la industria, se ha visto muy afectado por la crisis durante el año 2009, registrando una menor movilidad ligada sobre todo al transporte de mercancías en carretera, modo donde se absorbe el grueso del consumo de productos petrolíferos tanto a nivel del transporte como a nivel global. Esto explica la reducción del 6% de la demanda de petróleo en este sector en 2009, reforzándose el efecto negativo de la crisis industrial sobre estos combustibles. Intensidad de la energía final Al igual que ocurre en el balance al 2010 de la intensidad de energía primaria, este contexto ha ocasionado un comportamiento algo anómalo y errático en la intensidad en términos de energía final, con una disminución del 3,9% en 2009 seguida de un incremento posterior del 2,4% en 2010. Remontándose a las últimas dos décadas, la tendencia seguida por la intensidad de energía final ha sido paralela a la del indicador homólogo de intensidad primaria, mostrando una mayor convergencia con la media europea con posterioridad al año 2004.
