6.0 DISCUSSION As part of the technology review the question of whether or not primary technology research performed in New Zealand might assist in earlier adoption of improved technologies in New Zealand. It is evident that there is little or no need for primary technology research to be undertaken in New Zealand. Rather adoption (and adaptation) of technologies that are developed off shore is recommended. Technology reviews performed regularly will elucidate technology developments that might usefully be adopted in New Zealand. Technology trials undertaken are a sound way to introduce emerging technology. Access to information from these trials could usefully be made readily available along with users’ feedback. This is anticipated to assist in promoting technology uptake. The success of increasing the use of low enthalpy geothermal energy resources in New Zealand will largely depend on the adoption of technologies that the public are aware of, are applicable, commercially available, and that have a reliability track record. 7.0 REFERENCES Chena Power LLC and Alaska Energy Authority, “400 kW Geothermal Power Plant at Chena Hot Springs, Alaska”, 2007, 37 pp. Chiasson, A., “Final Report Life Cycle Cost Study of a Geothermal Heat Pump System BIA Office Bldg.
