In cooperation with the city of Schlieren and the Swiss post, ewz is currently creating a major energy network to take advantage of locally available, environment- friendly waste heat from the cooling process, as well as energy from treated wastewater. The plan is part of an ewz energy contracting project. Exploiting synergies between heating and cooling. Central heating and cooling is typically cost-effective in high energy-density situa- tions. A central network takes advantage of the geographic proximity and central exploitation of existing heating and coo- ling. If one customer requires heating at the same time as another requires cooling, their needs can be met with a combined heat pump/refrigeration plant, an energy- efficient solution.
