Indiana (read Northern Border Pipeline Company Completes Project 2000). Project 2000 strategically positions Northern Border Pipeline to move gas east of Chicago and affords its shippers access to the northern Indiana industrial zone. Northern Border Pipeline transports natural gas for shippers under a tariff regulated by the FERC. The tariff specifies the calculation of amounts to be paid by shippers and the general terms and conditions of transportation service on the pipeline system. Northern Border Pipeline derives revenue from agreements for the receipt and delivery of gas at points along the pipeline system as specified in each shipper's individual transportation contract. Northern Border Pipeline does not own the natural gas that it transports and therefore does not assume the related natural gas commodity risk. As of December 31, 2001, approximately 99% of the capacity on the Northern Border pipeline system is contractually committed through mid- September 2003 and the weighted average contract life, based on annual cost of service obligations, is approximately five and one half years. The Northern Border pipeline system serves more than 50 shippers with diverse operating financial profiles. 4 Sites Targeted... Selected sites... The Northern Pipeline consists of 13 compressor stations each ranging in the 35,000 to 40,000 HP range. Four of these stations have been selected by Basin Electric, ORMAT and Northern Pipeline. Site CS-7 will be the monitored site. ORMAT will own and operate the systems. Northern pipeline will host and be compensated by ORMAT for the useful waste heat based upon electricity generated. Northern will also provide sub-contract services to ORMAT for routine maintenance. Basin will purchase all power produced by each site.
