RTE ensures the accommodation of all generation projects, off shore as well as on shore, via connection and development projects and smooth operation of the grid. The French power system is currently being adapted in order to facilitate achieve the ambitious targets set for the share of renewable energy sources in France as well as in Europe. Currently, RTE is managing 6 connection projects for off shore wind farms, each of them around 500 MW, and develops a combined interconnection and tidal evacuation HVDC project together with British and Channel Island partners. RTE is also active in R&D projects at all levels: local, national and European (in particular within the FP7 framework).
