For the space heating and the absorption chiller, local BIN weather data was used to determine how often the outdoor temperature would be above or below the temperature setpoint. From this information a usage factor was estimated to determine the percentage of the time the units would actually operate during these hours. The intermittent loads operating hours were determined from the estimated daily requirements and assumed to operate under these same conditions year round. The average energy input for these systems was found using the required flow rates along with the available energy remaining in the thermal energy fluid.
