be preheated using a simple heat exchanger design which increases the incoming temperature closer to that of the exhaust gas temperature. This increase in temperature directly results in an energy savings because less energy from the combustion process is wasted on raising the initial air temperature. As can be seen in the previous figure, the energy input required to reach the same combustion results steadily decreases as the incoming air temperature is raised.
