This is because this energy is the most difficult to recover which leads many facilities to simply ignore the potential energy which can be saved. This low temperature waste heat makes up about 60% of all waste heat rejected, making it a very large and available energy source. The following figure shows that although the low temperature range waste heat carries less thermal energy, it provides a much larger potential for energy recovery based on the volume exhausted.
