How it works ElectraTherm’s waste heat-to-power system uses a closed loop Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). 1. Heat is captured by the evaporator and boils the working fluid into a pressurised vapour 2. The vapour flows through the screw expander, spinning an electric generator to produce power 3. The vapour is cooled and condensed back into liquid in the condenser 4. The working fluid is pumped to higher pressure and returned to the evaporator to repeat the cycle Applications and Heat Sources ElectraTherm's Green Machine is designed primarily to capture waste heat from liquid heat supplies, but can be adapted to numerous types of heat streams. Stationary Engines, Boilers, Co- Produced Fluids from Geothermal/Oil & Gas, and Concentrated Solar Thermal resources typically have a hot liquid resource available for use with the Green Machine. There are applications where waste heat is available, but not with a liquid heat source (i.e. exhaust stacks). In these applications, a hot water loop and a heat exchanger will need to be provided to transfer the available exhaust waste heat into the hot water loop for use in the Green Machine. Installation The small footprint (6.5 x 8 x 7.25 ft or 2 x 2.5 x 2.2 m), skid-mounted design facilitates ease of installation. Additionally, the Green Machine’s control system is fully automated, allowing remote control, remote monitoring and off-site maintenance. The Green Machine is scalable to each heat source, allowing connection of multiple Green Machines to a single heat source if enough energy is provided. Maintenance The Green Machine employs a robust design and the majority of machine components are readily available.
