UTC Power’s PureCycle® 280 organic rankine cycle (ORC) power plant has been designed for application to geothermal hot liquid resources. Our technology generates power on geothermal resource temperatures well below what has been considered economically justifiable to pursue in the past. The PureCycle® 280 geothermal ORC unit is based on a "liquid" evaporator, and "liquid" condenser, shown on our website at: http://www.utcpower.com/fs/com/bin/fs_com_Page/0,11491,0167,00.html. The indicative performance and cost metrics are: • Gross Output: approximately 280 KW – w/ net output depending on input temperatures and application • Hot liquid input: approximately 195'F (90’C) - 300'F (149’C) • Cold water input: 85'F or less • Budgetary Price: $1250 / KW, commissioning and shipping additional • O&M Cost: approximately 1.0 cent per kWh / yr, plus 3% annual inflation • Availability: approximately 95% or better • Induction generator: 480V / 3Ph / 60Hz (50Hz not available at this time) • Approximate Operating Dimensions: 8’W x 17’L x 11'H - weighing approximately 29,000 lbs. We have successfully demonstrated the PureCycle® geothermal power system’s operation on the lowest geothermal temperature application in the world at Chena Hot Springs Resort, in Alaska. Here the power plant is currently operating continuously on ~165'F (74’C) geothermal hot water at approximately 99% availability. The reason we’re able to utilize such a low resource temperature is that there a “cold sink”, or condensing resource, available from local ground water fed by snow melt run-off at ~40'F. We do not commercially offer any equipment that operates below a geothermal input temperature of 195’F (90’C) at this time. UTC Power provides “equipment and service only”. Engineering, design, permitting, financing and construction are all by others. NOTE: Any indicative economics that UTC Power may provide are meant only as placeholders for budgetary and planning purposes. Installation costs are dependant on a wide variety of factors, including application and site specific issues, but can run between $250 / KW to $2500 / KW or more, and are the sole responsibility of the purchaser.
