Casestudies Waste incineration technology - Energos ASA A new energy recovery plant for household waste, located in Averøy, Northwest Norway, shows that municipal waste can be incinerated, achieving a good rate of energy recovery and low emissions even when the fuel contains wet organic fractions. The plant was established in 1999 and is based on technology developed over the last 15 years and now offered by Energos ASA. R&D phase Was the R&D work primarily done by the industry, academic or government institutions? Primarily by SINTEF, one of Europe's largest independent research organisations. SINTEF worked in close collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Industry was also involved. The Norwegian Research Council supported the work.
