Se puede observar cómo los sistemas con almacenamiento incrementan significativamente los costes de inversión con respecto a los sistemas sin almacenamiento pero, como contrapartida, aumentan las horas netas de funcionamiento y por tanto la rentabilidad del proyecto, y permiten gestionar la generación eléctrica. Para el análisis realizado en este apartado se ha estimado para la tipología cilindroparabólica una capacidad de almacenamiento de 7 horas. Es importante destacar, así mismo, que la menor potencia de las centrales de torre (20 MW en la actualidad) y de colectores lineales de Fresnel (30 MW) en relación con las de canales cilindroparabólicos (50 MW) supone un impacto significativo en costes, que sería compensado si se aumenta la potencia de éstas al desarrollarse comercialmente la tecnología.
