A su vez, parte de estos problemas derivan del reducido número de unidades producidas hasta la fecha, siguiendo procedimientos casi artesanales. Con una progresiva implantación de la tecnología es previsible un desarrollo industrial de fabricación asociado, que permitirá la reducción de los costes de los motores. Por ello, los esfuerzos más inmediatos de las principales empresas implicadas en esta tecnología se dirigen prioritariamente hacia el desarrollo de la fabricación en serie, con la misma metodología que se ha ido desarrollando en el sector del automóvil, lo que permitiría reducir drásticamente los costes, aumentando, en paralelo, la fiabilidad. Empresas como SES, Tessera Solar o Infinia (EE.UU.) y Clean Energy (Suecia), actual propietaria de los derechos del motor SOLO V161, están avanzando en este proceso, tanto en lo que se refiere al motor como al concentrador. En España la empresa Vinci Energía está realizando innovaciones en el concentrador, sustituyendo el tradicional disco parabólico por lentes de Fresnel. A más largo plazo, el desarrollo de capacidades de hibridación o almacenamiento energético se presenta como un claro desafío para esta tecnología, pues gran parte del atractivo de los sistemas termosolares de generación de electricidad reside en su carácter “gestionable” cuando incorporan sistemas de almacenamiento. Centrales de concentradores lineales de Fresnel La tecnología de concentradores lineales de Fresnel consiste en la utilización de una serie de espejos lineales que pueden rotar alrededor de su eje para dirigir los rayos reflejados hacia un receptor lineal situado por encima de ellos, que puede ser único o doble.
