Plan de Energías Renovables 2011- 2020. En cuanto a sus requerimientos de agua y gas, son similares al resto de tecnologías, ya que están condicionadas por el ciclo convencional de la turbina. Las primeras centrales puestas en marcha enEspaña de canales cilindroparabólicos sin almacenamiento no superan normalmente las 2.400 horas anuales de operación equivalentes en plena carga. Para incrementar las horas de operación se implementan sistemas de almacenamiento térmico. Gracias al almacenamiento se puede producir energía tanto en perídos de baja radiación como tras la puesta del sol, a costa de campos solares de mayor tamaño. La tecnología actual de almacenamiento térmico más madura es la de tanques de sales fundidas en los que el aumento de temperatura implica una variación positiva de energía interna sin cambio de fase. En España la mayoría de las iniciativas tienen 50 MW de potencia, por ser el límite establecido para el régimen especial de producción de energía eléctrica, si bien el óptimo se puede encontrar entre 100 y 200 MW de potencia nominal. Detalle de campo solar de una central cilindroparabólica Fuente: Iberdrola Energía Solar de Puertollano (Iberdrola Energías Renovables, IDAE) En la actualidad, las principales líneas de desarrollo en esta tecnología pasan por: - El desarrollo de la generación directa de vapor (GDV), cuya principal ventaja es la sustitución del aceite térmico (fluido caloportador) por agua, por ser el primero costoso, inflamable, con temperatura de operación limitada y potencialmente contaminante. El agua además sería el mismo fluído de trabajo entre el campo solar y el ciclo de potencia lo que permite prescindir de los intercambiadores aceite–agua y operar a temperaturas más altas obteniendo un aumento de rendimiento. - En la misma línea que la generación directa de vapor, se plantea el empleo de sales fundidas como fluido de trabajo en el campo solar.
