Polonia tienen tasas de vertedero del 100, 99, 83 y 78% respectivamente, mientras que países de la antigua UE-15 como Alemania, Holanda, Suecia, Austria o Dinamarca tienen tasas de vertido del 0, 1, 11 y 4% respectivamente. Estos datos contrastan con el valor en España. Además, del análisis de la situación a nivel europeo en materia de gestión de residuos pueden extraerse dos conclusiones más: - Aquellos países que presentan mayores tasas de reciclado (Alemania, Bélgica, Suecia, Dinamarca y Holanda), son también los que mayores tasas de incineración tienen. - Los países que combinan altas tasas de reciclado y altas tasas de incineración son los que tienen los menores porcentajes de depósito de residuos en vertedero sin tratamiento. Es decir, la incineración juega un papel importante en los modelo de gestión de residuos más avanzados donde se han alcanzado tasas de reciclado muy elevadas. En términos energéticos y teniendo en cuenta únicamente el contenido renovable de los residuos de competencia municipal (su fracción biodegradable), según datos de EurObserv’ER, en Europa en 2008 y 2009 la producción de energía primaria a partir de residuos municipales renovables sobrepasó los 7.000 ktep, repartidos por países de la siguiente forma: Tabla 4.8.4.
