El petróleo, con una posición dominante, irá perdiendo protagonismo a favor de las energías renovables y la electricidad, cuyas demandas experimentarán un notable crecimiento, véase la tabla 3.4.2, especialmente la demanda térmica de las energías renovables, que se incrementará a un ritmo medio anual del 4,1% (tomando como referencia el año 2010) lo que llevará en 2020 a posicionarse en una demanda del 8,5%. Por su parte, la demanda del carbón se mantendrá estabilizada en torno al 2%. Tabla 3.4.2.
