Plan de Energías Renovables 2011- 2020. La contribución de la electricidad renovable a la producción bruta de electricidad en España en 2010 fue de un 32,3% y su distribución por fuentes se puede observar en la siguiente figura. En relación a la contribución de electricidad renovable del 33,3% en 2010 que se observa en la tabla precedente, es conveniente aclarar que dicha contribución ha sido calculada de acuerdo a la metodología de establecimiento de objetivos del PER 2005-2010, esto es, sobre el consumo bruto de electricidad, el cual se calcula restando las exportaciones y sumando las importaciones de electricidad a la producción bruta. En la figura se puede ver que la producción asociada a las energías renovables superó a la producción nuclear, siendo la primera fuente en importancia, seguida de cerca por el gas natural y aventajando con creces a los productos petrolíferos y al carbón.
