Number of pages: 47 Appendices: 9 Keywords: ORC, OTEC, Condensate, Energy utilize. ____________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT The purpose of this thesis was to fathom out the possibilities to use the ORC tech- nology to utilize condensing energy of a nuclear power plant. The thesis was made because of the clearance TVO got in 1977 from the Water right court of West-Finland to transmit the cooling water in the sea. One term of this clearance was that TVO has to search for feasible ways to utilize the waste heat. The topic is limited to cover two different applications of the ORC technology. In one application the air condenser is used as the heat sink and in the other one cold sea water from the entry side of the plant. Also the effects of upcoming new plant units have been taken into account. As a conclusion it can be said that it is possible to produce electricity with the OCR process from the condensate of a nuclear power plant when the circumstances are optimal but further study is still needed. Machinery design and the cost of plant pro- curement were not studied.
