14.4.1.2 New Developments in 2010 No new developments were made during FY2009 (from April 2009 to March 2010). 14.3.1.3 Rates and Trends in Development Japan‘s geothermal power market has lost the last decade since geothermal energy was excluded from ―New Energy‖ in 1997. Although geothermal energy was included back into ―New Energy‖ in 2008, the future trend is still obscure. Investment in a large-scale power plant is too risky at present, circumstances that inevitably focus activities on the realistic option of developing small- scale power plants for the next few years. 14.3.1.4 Wells Drilled During the year 2010, 3 production wells were drilled at 3 power stations in Matsukawa, Kakkonda (Figure 14.5) and Ogiri, and 4 reinjection wells were drilled at 4 power stations in Kakkonda, Otake, Yamakawa (Figure 14.6), and Hatchobaru.
