It converts waste heat from the exhaust of gas turbine-driven compressors into electricity for sale to local utilities or for additional compressor station power. The ORC, like steam power plants, is based on the Rankine Cycle but uses a non-freezing, ozone-benign organic working fluid instead of steam. It is well suited for operation with gas turbine exhaust heat sources. The power produced by the exhaust from gas turbine driven compressors along a natural gas pipeline is dependent on the type of gas turbine used and on site conditions.
