The reactor vessel is lined with Titanium to prevent corrosion and can be licensed to be used on roads. Figure 4.2.9 Briquetting: CL is then compacted at the prehydrolysis plant to form square briquettes to achieve bulk densities of 1,200 kg/m3. The efficiency of compaction is such that weight limits do not allow full loading of a 20 feet container. Transportation: Just-in-time intermodal long distance container transportation—truck, rail, boat and ship—from the prehydrolysis plant located in the forest to users in Canada and foreign countries is then used. Unloading of the container only occurs at the end user site. The briquettes can be used to feed distributed and remote CHP systems operating with atomized biomass burners, to generate syngas without the use of a gasfier to fabricate methanol, DME, crude oil or hydrogen at the end point consumption, fuel large biomass boilers and to be used directly in a gas turbine.
