However, there may be elements of the qualitative method that need addressing. Therefore, both may apply resulting in using a mixed method approach. Project Design The topic of geothermal energy production covers a broad range of applications and technologies. Before a specific area is examined, a general overview of geothermal technologies, applications, and costs are discussed to form a foundational starting point. There are geothermal production plants sponsored by several governments through out the world as well as private endeavors in the United States. The application type, physical size, production capacity and cost will be compared before a narrower analysis is done on smaller applications that may be suitable for rural Alaska.
