DIRECTION OF ROTATION – The direction of rotation is determined by the direction the turbine rotor rotates when you are positioned aft looking in the forward direction (towards the air inlet). Capstone MicroTurbine generators rotate clockwise. 97. DIAGNOSTIC TEST - This is a test of a product to determine if all parts are functioning properly. If the diagnostic test determines that there is problem, the test also attempts to isolate which part of the product is not performing correctly. (Isolation down to a single part is seldom perfect, but always will narrow the possible malfunctions to make the service persons’ job easier.) 98. DISPLAY (OR DISPLAY PANEL) – A user interface panel that allows the user to monitor the MicroTurbine generator system activity, or supply input to the system. 99. DOE – Department of Energy. 100. A second definition is the use of a brake resistor to dissipate power from a generator (or a motor used as a generator) thereby applying a mechanical load to a rotating system. 105. E-STOP SWITCH (BUTTON) – Emergency stop switch that disables the MicroTurbine generator system immediately. Intended to shutdown and de-energize the system. 106. EBC – Environmental Barrier Coating. 107. ECAR – East Central Area Reliability Coordination Agreement. 108. ECM – Engine Control Module. 109. ECM INDUCTORS – Used to decrease the frequency ripple from the motor-generator reducing stator and rotor heating. 110. ECO – Engineering Change Order. The document that is generated to cause a change to a document to occur. An ECO is required to change all released documents that are under Configuration Control. This includes drawings, specifications, and manuals. 111. EDI – Electronic Data Interchange. 112. EMI – Electromagnetic Interference. Impairment of wanted electromagnetic signal by an electromagnetic disturbance. 113.
