25. AUTHORIZED SERVICE PROVIDER – An “Authorized” provider of installation, maintenance and repair services for Capstone products. Authorization is provided by contract and includes the right to adjudicate warranty and sell service parts. An Authorized service provider may or may not be an Authorized Distributor. 26. AVAILABILITY – Percent of time the unit is operated at rated output versus the total time desired to operate at rated output, (total desired operating time- (maintenance downtime + failure downtime)) / (total desired operating time). 27. BACT – Best Available Control Technology, (exhaust emissions related). 28. BALANCE ASSEMBLY – An in-process assembly that is tested to verify the rotordynamic characteristics of the MicroTurbine. The balance assembly is made-up from the powerhead, the shaft/tiebolt assembly, and the stator housing assembly which contains the generator stator windings, and #1 & #2 bearings. 29. BATTERY CONTROLLER - A controller that is used to manage the flow of electrical energy into and out of a battery. In addition to regulating the flow for the convenience of the load connected to the controller, it also must manage the state of charge of the battery. 30. BATTERY, VALVE-REGULATED – A battery in which the venting of the products of electrolysis is controlled by a reclosing pressure-sensitive valve. These batteries have commonly been referred to as "maintenance-free, starved electrolyte." 31. BATTERY, VENTED – A battery in which the products of electrolysis and evaporation are allowed to escape freely to the atmosphere. BILL OF MATERIAL (BoM) – List of parts or components required to create an assembly. The BoM contains the part or component description, part number and quantity required. 36. BLADE – An airfoil attached to a rotating hub (i.e., compressor impeller blade or turbine blade). 37. BCM – Battery Control Module. 38. BPS - Battery Pack, Start. 39. BPT - Battery Pack, Transient. 40. BRAKE RESISTOR - A low impedance path to discharge the DC bus voltage in the controller. The brake resistor supplies an alternate path for power from the generator if a load is suddenly removed. Will absorb excess energy out of the system. 41. BRANCH CIRCUIT – The portion of the building wiring system beyond the final overcurrent protective device on the power-distribution panel that protects the circuit to the field-wiring terminals in a permanently connected unit or to the receptacle outlet for a cord- connected unit. 42. BTU – British Thermal Unit. A measure of heat energy; the amount of heat energy necessary to raise the temperature of one pound-mass of water one degree Fahrenheit. 43. BUILD FILE – Software file produced from compiling a project. 44. BUSINESS ROADMAP - Prioritization of the business development activities as required by market rollout. 45. BYPASS: 45.1.
