The current costs presented by the suppliers have the potential to meet the projected cost reduction. Having active suppliers performing development promotes lower costs through competition. It is expected a portion of the mirror development will be in the realm of the manufacturers. 4.3.4 Power Block There are recognized scale-up cost reductions for the power block. Using the SOAPP software program (SOAPP undated), S&L estimated the scale-up factor for increasing the plant size from 100 MW to 400 MW, as depicted on Figure 4-3. The projected SunLab values are included for comparative purposes. Power block costs (Figure 4-3A) include the steam turbine and generator, steam turbine and generator auxiliaries, feedwater, and condensate systems.
