Opportunity #8 – Multiple Opportunities through the California Energy Commission PIER Program The California Energy Commission PIER program is one of the larger energy efficiency R&D programs in the country. The RD&D Division administers a total of $83.5 million in public interest energy research funds annually – $62.5 million for electricity and $21 million for natural gas; a portion of this funding then goes to Building Efficiency Research.
